Sumi Perera, whose personal work features in collections including Tate Britain and the V&A Museum, brings to 25 Stratford Grove a collection of hand made artists’ books from Beijing. Created at Beijing’s Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) 2007, during a teaching visit there by Perera, the work explores experimental book structure and paper engineering. This one day event at 25SG has been curated by printmaker and artist’s book designer Theresa Easton and will be followed by a ‘Show and Tell’ session. Organiser of Gallery North Artists’ Book Fair June 26th 2010, Easton will present work by Chinese artist’s and recent work by Sumi Perera, using the domestic environment of 25SG, allowing viewers to engage with and handle the work directly.
