Parallel Dreams
Residency 9th – 18th July 2010
I was very pleased to be accepted for a residency at 25SG. I had in mind to make some work with an old kayak that I had had for two years with no opportunity to work with because of space restraints. The kayak just fitted into the Garage Gallery and it proved an ideal working space and ultimately a perfect showing space. The printed objects that connected with the kayak needed a different space and the attic room proved ideal. I was able to work with the room’s architectural features in the way I placed the work.
The closing show was very well attended and I was particularly pleased with the reception of my talk and the discussion it engendered. The food and wine created a lively event that carried on long after the agreed closing time.
Carole Luby was a very helpful support in both practical terms and in her engagement with my work. She was very encouraging and made the whole experience of the residence a happy and useful learning experience.
