Performing the Projection piece at 25 Stratford Grove was a very gentle and personal experience. I felt like it was an opportunity to work with some of the questions I have, about my own history and the places that have been markers along my journey thus far, within a supportive environment.

One element of the performance was a half hour sound recording of an interview with my mother overlaid with the sound of the sea. It was very special to be able to welcome my mother into 25 Stratford Grove, a place that has become an important part of my life. The process of marking my body resonated for me and felt like an authentic gesture. Showing the work alongside Sophie’s had some unexpected and genuine convergences; mapping, marking, journeys, nomadism, home.

The discussion that followed the showing was dynamic and grappled with the questions I have been asking myself about the relationship between performance and documentation. One year on from my first showing at 25 Stratford Grove, it is lovely to look at how both I and the venue have grown.
